PhD student and researcher
The Cambridge Development Lab (CDL) team are recruiting a new PhD student to contribute to our research on palm oil and deforestation in Indonesia, including analysing data from our Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) in Sumatra.
This trial is testing a new training intervention that promotes social norms to conserve nature among palm oil farmers. The candidate should have experience in econometric methods and statistical analysis in R or Python. They must also have excellent interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to work with academic and non-academic research partners.
The candidate should hold a Master’s degree in economics, environmental economics, quantitative political science, or a related subject. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is also highly desirable. The position is not currently funded but a suitable candidate will be supported to seek funding. Depending on funding success, the post will commence in 2026. The position is likely to be based in Cambridge, UK, as part of the CDL team with with travel to Indonesia when required.
